Opes Financial

A financial planner for Adelaide clients, delivered virtually.

A financial planner covering retirement, superannuation, insurance and tax-effective investing for clients across Adelaide and South Australia. Meetings by video. Service level identical to in-person engagements.

North Adelaide bluestone terraces on a quiet residential street at twilight with the city skyline a faint silhouette beyond.

How we work with Adelaide clients.

Every meeting runs on Zoom or Teams. Document exchange happens through secure upload, and signatures are captured electronically. Adelaide clients have engaged the practice this way for years. None of it is new.

Hours run 8am to 7pm AEST. Adelaide sits on ACDT, so a 6pm Adelaide call is 6:30pm in Melbourne. Useful for inner-east professionals in Norwood or Burnside taking a call after work, and for clinicians at the Royal Adelaide who can only talk after a shift.

Phone is available on 1300 67 37 37 or 0419 506 560. Most files run on a mix of one introductory call, one strategy meeting, and one Statement of Advice walkthrough.

There is no Adelaide office. We say so up front.

The practice runs out of Suite 11.18, 401 Docklands Drive, Melbourne. There is no shopfront in Adelaide, no serviced suite in the CBD, no satellite office in North Adelaide. South Australian engagements are virtual, and have been for years.

Service coverage is Australia-wide. There are no postcode restrictions on the advice. SA clients access the same adviser, the same scope and the same fees as Melbourne files.

What this means in practice
  • All meetings by video or phone.
  • No in-person option in SA.
  • The same adviser, the same scope, the same fees.

What we advise on for Adelaide clients.

01

Retirement and transition

Drawdown sequencing, transition-to-retirement strategies, and the final ten working years. Equally applicable in SA as in Victoria.

02

Superannuation, accumulation

Fund selection, consolidation of legacy accounts, salary sacrifice and co-contribution. Structural work that compounds across a working life.

03

Personal risk insurance

Income protection, TPD, trauma, life cover. Business insurance for self-employed clients. Sized to the household, not to a target premium.

04

Tax-effective investing

Negative gearing, franking credits, ownership structures. Coordinated with the household accountant in Adelaide or interstate.

05

Education, aged care, Centrelink

Children's education funding, aged-care fee planning, Centrelink optimisation. Eligibility rules are federal and travel with the client.

06

SMSF strategy alongside

SMSF advice itself sits outside this AR. SMSF lending and the broader strategy are handled within the practice for SA trustees.

Comprehensive advice is delivered as a written Statement of Advice. Minimum engagement for managed-fund investment is $50,000.

Adelaide clients we work with.

White-collar professionals on incomes above $200,000. Doctors and specialists are a deliberate focus, and the practice has existing testimonials from practising specialists across the eastern states. Pre-retirees frequently begin with retirement and drawdown work, drawn from the wider retirement planning hub.

The Adelaide book skews toward inner-east professionals in Norwood, Burnside and Unley, southern coastal households around Glenelg and Brighton, and growth-corridor first-home buyers in Munno Para and Mount Barker. Defence and BAE-linked professionals come through regularly too.

Adelaide loan sizes typically run lower than Sydney or Melbourne, which changes the cash-flow side of the plan rather than the structural side. The advice does not become a different shape because the postcode starts with a 5.

What Adelaide clients usually ask first.

No. The practice runs from Docklands, Melbourne. South Australian engagements run by video. There is no shopfront in the Adelaide CBD or in North Adelaide.
A calendar invite with a Zoom or Teams link, sent in advance. Documents are uploaded through a secure portal beforehand. The Statement of Advice is delivered electronically and walked through in a screen-share session. No couriers, no printed binders.
Yes. Most state-specific work sits on the property side and we coordinate with the household's SA conveyancer. The financial advice itself is delivered under a federal AFSL, which is the same in any state.
Electronically. We use compliant e-signing for the Statement of Advice, authority forms, and any lender or insurer documentation that accepts it. Physical signatures are only used where a counterparty still requires them.
No. The first conversation is a free virtual consultation. It is a discussion of goals and constraints, not a sales pitch, and there is no obligation to proceed.

Start with a virtual first call.

Thirty minutes by phone or video. The same conversation Adelaide clients have had with us for years.
