Opes Financial

A financial planner for Adelaide, wherever you are.

A financial planner covering retirement, super, insurance and keeping your tax bill down, for clients across Adelaide and South Australia. We meet over video. You get exactly the same adviser, the same advice and the same fees as anyone who walks into the office.

How it works if you’re in Adelaide.

Meetings run on Zoom or Teams. You upload documents securely and sign them online. Adelaide clients have worked with us this way for years — none of it is new or experimental.

Hours run 8am to 7pm AEST. Adelaide sits on ACDT, so a 6pm Adelaide call is 6:30pm in Melbourne. Useful for inner-east professionals in Norwood or Burnside taking a call after work, and for clinicians at the Royal Adelaide who can only talk after a shift.

You can always just ring — 1300 67 37 37 or 0419 506 560. Most jobs take three conversations: a first call, a session on the strategy, and a walk-through of the written advice.

There is no Adelaide office. We say so up front.

We work out of Suite 11.18, 401 Docklands Drive, Melbourne. There is no shopfront in Adelaide, no serviced suite in the CBD, no satellite office in North Adelaide. South Australian engagements are virtual, and have been for years.

Service coverage is Australia-wide. There are no postcode restrictions on the advice. SA clients access the same adviser, the same scope and the same fees as Melbourne files.

What that means for you
  • Everything over video or the phone.
  • We can’t meet you face to face in SA.
  • The same adviser, the same advice, the same fees.

What we can help with.

01

Retirement and transition

What to draw down and in what order, easing out of full-time work, and the last ten working years. Works the same in SA as it does in Victoria.

02

Superannuation, accumulation

Fund selection, consolidation of legacy accounts, salary sacrifice and co-contribution. Structural work that compounds across a working life.

03

Personal risk insurance

Income protection, TPD, trauma and life cover, plus business cover if you work for yourself. The amount is worked out from your household, not from a premium we're aiming at.

04

Tax-effective investing

Negative gearing, franking credits, and whose name things should be in. Worked through with your accountant, wherever they are.

05

Education, aged care, Centrelink

Paying for school and uni, the cost of aged care, and getting the Centrelink you're entitled to. These rules are federal, so they follow you wherever you live.

06

SMSF strategy alongside

Advice on setting up a fund sits outside this licence. The lending and the wider strategy we handle in-house for SA trustees.

You get the advice in writing — formally, a Statement of Advice. If it involves managed funds, we start at a $50,000 portfolio.

Who we work with in Adelaide.

Professionals earning over $200,000. Doctors and specialists are a deliberate focus, and we have testimonials from practising specialists across the eastern states. Pre-retirees frequently begin with retirement and drawdown work, drawn from the wider retirement planning hub.

The Adelaide book skews toward inner-east professionals in Norwood, Burnside and Unley, southern coastal households around Glenelg and Brighton, and growth-corridor first-home buyers in Munno Para and Mount Barker. Defence and BAE-linked professionals come through regularly too.

Adelaide loan sizes typically run lower than Sydney or Melbourne, which changes the cash-flow side of the plan rather than the structural side. The advice doesn’t change shape because of your postcode.

All three, in SA

Planning, loans and buying a place — all handled here.

What we do most

Financial planning

What you’re reading. Done over video across SA, and free if we’re also buying your property.

Also in-house

Mortgage broking

More than 50 lenders. Adelaide loans and refinances go through exactly the same panel as Melbourne ones.

Also in-house

Buyer's agent

Through a licensed partner operating across every Australian state, including SA metro and the Adelaide Hills.

What people in Adelaide ask first.

No. We work out of Docklands in Melbourne. South Australian engagements run by video. There is no shopfront in the Adelaide CBD or in North Adelaide.
A calendar invite with a Zoom or Teams link, sent ahead of time. You upload your documents securely before we talk. Your written advice arrives electronically and we go through it together on a shared screen. No couriers, no ring binders.
Yes. Most state-specific work sits on the property side and we coordinate with the household's SA conveyancer. The financial advice itself is delivered under a federal AFSL, which is the same in any state.
Online. We use proper e-signing for the written advice, the authority forms and any lender or insurer paperwork that allows it. Paper signatures only where someone still insists on one.
No. The first conversation is free and over video. It's about what you're trying to do and what's in the way — not a pitch — and you're not committing to anything by having it.

Start with a virtual first call.

Half an hour, by phone or video. The same conversation Adelaide clients have been having with us for years.
