Opes Financial

Client case studies.

Testimonials tell you a client was happy. Case studies tell you what was done and why. These three are written up by Balki himself — one about structure, one about an unusually ambitious goal, and one that turned out to have very little to do with money.

Three manila client folders fanned across a dark walnut desk at dusk, a fountain pen resting on top, city lights blurred beyond the window.

Three engagements, start to finish.

Names and identifying details are changed throughout. Each is written in the adviser's own words.

01 · Planning + broking

They came for a home loan. They left with a roadmap.

Michael and Sarah wanted a competitive rate on their first home. Structuring the loan alongside a full financial plan changed the outcome — within seven years they had cut the mortgage down, built a diversified portfolio and a real emergency reserve.

02 · Financial planning

Retiring in their forties — and two years ahead of plan.

Shravan and Anitha were in their mid-thirties and wanted to retire within ten years. The plan modelled two distinct life stages through to age 90. They got there in eight, and left to teach English across Southeast Asia.

03 · A story I will never forget

Why I became a financial adviser.

A story Balki has never forgotten. Peter and Sharmaine came for advice on separating their finances. What the modelling actually showed them was that they did not have to separate at all.

The detail is the point.

Most financial services sites publish a wall of five-star quotes and nothing about the actual work. We would rather show the reasoning — how a loan was structured, what the modelling assumed, where a plan had to change when circumstances did. If you are choosing an adviser, that is the part worth reading.

None of these are typical outcomes, and none of them are promises. They are three particular families, with three particular sets of numbers.

Names and identifying details have been changed to protect client privacy.

This case study describes one client's experience only. It is not a promise or indication of any particular financial return or future performance, and past results are not a reliable indicator of future outcomes. Nothing on this page takes into account your personal objectives, financial situation or needs.
