What this is for

How accurate this repayment estimate is.

Use this when you want a rough sense of monthly repayments before you start property hunting. The actual number we'd quote depends on lender, comparison rate, fees, and your borrowing profile.

  • Use it before pre-approval. Get a feel for what your budget looks like at different loan sizes and rates. For a capacity figure rather than a repayment, use the borrowing capacity calculator.
  • Use it to compare scenarios. Try a 25 year term against 30, or principal and interest against interest only, and see what changes.
  • Don't use it for the final decision. Real lenders apply policy tests, LMI, comparison-rate fees, offset and redraw features that move the numbers around. The full finance broking service runs your file across the 50+ lender panel for the actual number.

Common questions

Close, but not exact. This calculator works off the interest rate you enter. Lenders quote a comparison rate that bakes in fees over the life of the loan. The two can differ by 0.1 to 0.3 percentage points. For an apples-to-apples quote across the panel, have a chat with us.
It's not a bug. Twelve months a year means there are 26 fortnights, not 24. Paying fortnightly at half the monthly amount means you pay one extra month's worth each year, which shortens the loan and saves interest. The figure shown converts the monthly repayment to a fortnightly equivalent at the same annual total.
A standardised rate that includes the interest rate plus most fees, calculated on a $150,000 loan over 25 years. It's a fairer way to rank offers. We use comparison rates when ranking lenders on the 50+ panel.
No. If your deposit is under 20% you'll usually pay LMI, which is added to the loan amount and increases your repayments. We work that figure out for you on a real application.
