Who provides the advice

Balki Balakrishnan, principal of Opes Financial Solutions Pty Ltd, is an Authorised Representative (AR 409415) of La Verne Capital Pty Ltd, which holds the Australian Financial Services Licence. La Verne Capital Pty Ltd is responsible for the financial advice we provide. Balki is a member of the Financial Advice Association of Australia (FAAA).

What the FSG covers

The FSG itself is the authoritative document. In summary, it addresses:

  • The identity of the AFSL holder and the Authorised Representative.
  • The financial services and products we are authorised to advise on, including superannuation, retirement, investment, and life risk insurance.
  • How we are paid: fees, commissions where applicable on insurance, and any third-party payments.
  • Any relationships with product issuers and how conflicts of interest are managed.
  • The complaints process, internal first and then the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
  • The Professional Indemnity insurance coverage held by the licensee.
  • How personal information collected during the advice process is handled.

Other documents you may receive

  • Statement of Advice (SOA) when we provide personal advice.
  • Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) from the product issuer for any product we recommend. We provide it before you decide to acquire the product.
  • Record of Advice (RoA) for further advice consistent with an earlier SOA.

Fees and how we are paid

We operate on a hybrid fee model. The exact fee depends on the products advised on and the complexity of the engagement. Managed-fund advice generally requires a minimum $50,000 investment. The authoritative fee schedule is set out in the FSG and confirmed in writing in the engagement letter before any work begins.
