Opes Financial

A financial planner for Perth, wherever you are.

A financial planner covering retirement, super, insurance and keeping your tax bill down, for clients across Perth and Western Australia. We meet over video. You get exactly the same adviser, the same advice and the same fees as anyone who walks into the office.

How it works if you’re in Perth.

Meetings run on Zoom or Teams. You upload documents securely and sign them online. WA clients have worked with us this way for years — none of it is new or experimental.

Perth runs two or three hours behind the eastern states depending on daylight saving. We hold morning slots from 7am Perth time, and late afternoon slots until 5pm Perth time, which covers most working professionals on either side of the day.

You can always just ring — 1300 67 37 37 or 0419 506 560. Most jobs take three conversations: a first call, a session on the strategy, and a walk-through of the written advice.

No office in Perth, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

We don’t have a Perth office. WA clients work with us over video, which is how we have run for years. What we’re licensed to advise on is national.

We work out of Suite 11.18, 401 Docklands Drive in Melbourne, and take clients anywhere in Australia. Your postcode doesn’t change the advice.

What that means for you
  • Everything over video or the phone.
  • We can’t meet you face to face in WA.
  • The same adviser, the same advice, the same fees.

What we can help with.

01

Retirement and transition

What to draw down and in what order, easing out of full-time work, and the last ten working years. Works the same in WA as it does in Victoria.

02

Superannuation, accumulation

Picking a fund, rolling old accounts together, salary sacrifice, and the government top-up. The boring work most people in Perth never get around to.

03

Personal risk insurance

Income protection, TPD, trauma and life cover, plus business cover if you work for yourself. The amount is worked out from your household, not from a premium we're aiming at.

04

Tax-effective investing

Negative gearing, franking credits, and whose name things should be in. Worked through with your accountant, wherever they are.

05

Education, aged care, Centrelink

Paying for school and uni, the cost of aged care, and getting the Centrelink you're entitled to. These rules are federal, so they follow you wherever you live.

06

SMSF strategy alongside

Advice on setting up a fund sits outside this licence. The lending and the wider strategy we handle in-house for WA trustees.

You get the advice in writing — formally, a Statement of Advice. If it involves managed funds, we start at a $50,000 portfolio.

Who we work with in Perth.

Professionals earning over $200,000. A meaningful share of the Perth book is mining, energy and engineering sector. Doctors and specialists are a deliberate focus. Pre-retirees in the final ten working years often start with retirement and drawdown work, drawn from the wider retirement planning hub. And people in their late twenties and thirties, building from a good income.

The Perth book splits roughly into three geographies. The western suburbs through Cottesloe, Subiaco and Claremont, often higher-income households with established asset bases. The Cottesloe-to-Fremantle coastal corridor, a mix of upgraders and downsizers. And eastern growth through Ellenbrook and Forrestfield, weighted to first-property and family files.

WA loan sizes typically run lower than Sydney and inner Melbourne, which changes the cash-flow side of the plan rather than the structural side. A pass through the borrowing capacity calculator often surfaces the structural questions worth raising on the first call. The advice doesn’t change shape because of your postcode.

All three, in WA

Planning, loans and buying a place — all handled here.

What people in Perth ask first.

No. We don’t have one in Perth. Everything with WA clients runs over video and phone, and has for years. Our office is in Docklands, Melbourne.
A calendar invite with a Zoom or Teams link, sent ahead of time. You upload your documents securely before we talk. Your written advice arrives electronically and we go through it together on a shared screen. No couriers, no ring binders.

Yes. Most state-specific work is on the property side, and we coordinate with the household's WA settlement agent. The financial advice itself is delivered under a federal AFSL, which is the same in any state.
No. The first conversation is free and over video. It's about what you're trying to do and what's in the way — not a pitch — and you're not committing to anything by having it.
